I just took out my R7 and the same flash and SCA you have there and it took me some playing around (with a Gossen meter, yes) to understand that it actually works fine, even though the aperture on the display doesn't change. First it didn't work for me either, but then I caught on the idea that I had the camera in P mode and that you're not supposed to move the aperture in that mode. In manual and aperture priority modes it works quite nicely, according to the Gossen. As you can tell, I don't use on-camera flash a lot. Bernard
