Sorry Martin,

I thought you wanted to know the root meaning which is, in the  language my
13 year old teratogeny*, monsterish, of, or, dealings with, monsters. The ~
implies you can plug these many endings on the comb. (combining root).
Finally the a. is an abbreviation for adjective and the n. is an
abbreviation for noun. Of course OED stands for Oxford English Dictionary
and I think that is it! ;-)
