There has never been a better enlarger if you do 35 mm only. It has the illumination of a combination of soft light and condenser enlargers. It is impossible to get out of allignment once it is bolted to a table and the negative plane is parallel with the easel. I have been in darkroom work for 67 years and been thru all the hotshot enlargers and have thrown them all out in favor of the Valloy II because of its allignment and also its helicle focusing cannot be beat. I would grab the one you are thinking about for $200 as they are difficult to aquire. I would get a good contemporary lens for it. I use the el nikkor 50 mm. I have noticed a few in England for sale for 200 pounds and up. Another good thing about it is that it works beautifully with a standard 75 watt enlarging bulb which enables it to function with no heat to the neg. Grab it!
