"Soft hands and keep your head up!"

Just kidding, A friend of mine who is paid to shoot most of the San
Jose Shark's home games through out the season , says the majority of
his shots are taken with his 2.8 80-200mm zoom or his 2.8 300 mm wide
open with the shutter set to 250 (or very close to that , he lets his
EOS do the thinking!). When I meter off the crowd closest to the ice, I
get the same results.
To see his pic's log on to www.webthumper.com/topshelf/
His name is James Guillory. There are some very nice shots . I know that
, not being a press photographer , he does not have access to the
strobes which I think make his shots come out even nicer then the ones
that make it to the sports page. .
I remember once along while back I saw a photographer who was using
the" camera porthole"( a three to four inch hole in the plexy glass to
place your lens through) take a deflected puck right in "protective" UV
filter ....... KERPLAASHHK!!! ....black plastic and glass
everywhere!!! Ouch!

Go Sharks!
