Leica Camera, AG announced this morning the introduction of the ALL
NEW Leica R9.2, Auto Focus SLR body with built in motor drive, color
matrix metering, and a high point view finder. The new body will use
standard R series 3-cam (ROM and non-ROM) lenses, and operates off of
regular AA batteries. A Leica spokesman said that the R9.2 bodies
will be on the dealer's shelved by the second week of April. The
R9.2 will sell for $1.995,00 less a $200.00 instant rebate, and will
come with an unconditional 5 year Leica world wide warranty at no
extra cost. The price of the camera will be uniform in all countries
around the world.

In more good news, Leica announced that it will pay a $3.50 per share
dividend to all stock holders of record as of 31 March 2000. A Leica
spokesman said that sales of all Leica products including the R8 have
been so overwhelming, that Leica decided to share the wealth with
it's stock holders. The Leica spokesman went on to say, that the
other reason they were paying the dividend now was to show everyone
how wrong Bill Erfurth's economic forecasts for Leica Camera have
been... unofficially, we think this guy is really (as you Americans
say) a turkey. However, we have to admit that a large portion of our
sales were to the US government. We received the order from the US
Government for 5,000 R8s shortly after Herr Cohn attended a Hillary
campaign fund raiser.

In addition to these announcements, we want to take this opportunity
to wish every one on the Leica Users Group a very happy April's fools
day.
