All I know is that I got a call at work from my wife who sat down to look at
the first roll of film (Provia 100F) I put through my first Leica (M6 TTL
0.72, 35:2 Summicron ASPH). She has looked at most of my shots through the
years taken with N*** optics and equipment, but this is the first and only
time she called to say "Wow" (and I didn't even use a tripod ;-), and could
she have a Leica, too :-)

My wife is an artist (stained glass, painting) with a very good eye, but
even she could not put into words exactly what elicited her reaction. From
my point of view, the slides had a warmer, more contrasty look than shots
taken with other optics with tremendous detail in the textures of the
materials photographed. For all I know, the Summicron would test with lower
resolution than N*** optics, but it sure didn't look that way to the eye.
