Ted,

My guess: with the R8 you cannot help focusing. With the M6/Heliar combination
you just set the lens to some reasonable distance, like 1m or 2m and forget
about focusing (since there is no coupling to the rangefinder anyway). You
cannot get more spontaneous than that!
