Last year while working on one of the magazines Journal Communications does
I was on the Green River in Kentucky photographing a ferry.  I was standing
on a floating dock and after finishing the shot I was about to walk back
across the ramp to the shore.  I saw something floating in the water and
thought it was a snake that had been chopped in half by the ferry.  Upon
looking at it closely with my 200mm lens I realized it was a big copperhead.
It was looking right at me and began swimming back to where I was standing.
A rather evil looking fellow, red eyes and all.
