Subject: Re: [Leica] Summicron 50/2 DR eyes?

One consideration to keep in mind is that two designs of the 50
Summicron eyes exist. The erudite Marc James Small in 1998
summarized the differences:

"Yes, there are two versions of the DR lens and two versions of the
eyes. The older lens is scaled in both metric and feet and the
engraving on the eyes has the Leitz lens-diagram logo with 'E Leitz
Wetzlar' engraved as well; the newer lens is either in feet or
meters and the lens-diagram logo is missing from the eyes."

As for sources, Sherry Krauter did have some in stock a few years
ago when I thought mine had disappeared somewhere on a forest
floor.
