AFAIK (& its been 40+ years since I thought about it) the SP had a life-size finder with several projecterd frames( Plus a separate wide angle finder) whuile the cheaper S3 had a lifesize finder with a couple of etched frames--no variable magnification. The Canon V & VI models OTOH had a sort of variable magnification-- REDUCED size w/a finders. - -- Bob Marvin
