Very smart indeed, Mark. We got rid of our VW Vanagon for the same reason.
After hearing "couple lost their legs in a head-on collision" too many
times. It became obvious that, in a VW Vanagon, there was nothing between
the driver / front passenger, and the oncoming traffic, but a piece of
sheet metal. If you are in a head-on accident, you are the accident.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I'm very happy to hear that your wife is OK.
