Subject: [Leica] M3 wanted!

	Hi everyone,

A newcomer to the list, I would like to introduce myself first. As an
international consultant, I travel often & far, and am very found of my M
system, even though I borrow my brother's R5 from time to time.

I recently sold my M6 and am looking for a M3 SN over #919,251 (1958 or
latter, single stoke with depth of field indicators,) but below #1,000,000
to avoid to pay premium for nothing. It is for real use, not collecting,
and I must say that a M3 with a clean, bright and not too yellow viewfinder
is difficult to find.

I have been checking Shutterbug adds, and it seems like non-collectible M3's
below #1.000,000 (Ex + to Mint-) go from $900 to $1400.
The least expensive stores I found were Tamarkin (NY), Le Camera (NJ) and
National Camera Exchange (Minn).
Does anyone have any experience with these stores? I will be in Los
Angeles, Montreal, Berlin, Copenhagen soon. Any real experience info on
stores that sell used Leica over there would be really helpful.

Also, I share some of the list members concerns about the M6 viewfinder
(even HM) and find the M3 better since I use 24, 50, and up (no 75).
Erwin Puts states in one of his most excellent papers "Any M3 however can
be adjusted to focus to 70cm". I 'd like to know if anyone tried? I' d love
to do that once I find myself one.
