Subject: Re: [Leica] 40/2 Summicron-C filter size

The filter thread on the 40mm summicron is not E39 (39 x 0.5) it is 39 x
0.75 (some references call it SP39). The 40mm summicron is supposed to be
used with series 7 filters retained by the hood. The outside diameter, where
the lens cap goes, is 41.5 mm as compared to 42 mm on the E39/A42 lenses. I
think that the clamping mech on the 13352 polarizer would work fine but you
might have to add a piece of tape.
