Marc James Small:
>>>The degradation caused by filters is real, but only can be seen when
REALLY large blow-ups are made...But try a 20" by 24" full-frame
blow-up, though, and you'll note a difference.<<<

Marc and I disagree on everything, no matter how, er, small. Kids in the
audience or at home may apply that principle here and derive my position
regarding the above.

Perceiving filter use from prints has to do only with lighting--filters
will subtly change flare or ghosting characteristics in some
circumstances.

P.S. Relieved Luggers will be interested to learn that Marc and I have
continued our debate over old-vs.-new construction quality in private,
at length, in depth, and including verbal sparring as adept as the
fencing of any Olympic masters. We are both available to be thanked for
"taking it outside" as it were, and not belaboring every slash and parry
in full view of the LUG.
