I do not believe that flash is preferable to available light nor do I believe that there is something preferable and glamorous about not using flash at all. However, I have seen many instances where diehard existing-light photographers have taken photos in bad light thus producing bad photographs. I have seen also photographs that said FLASH all over . Whether with a Leica at f:1.0 or a Takashukashi at f:8.0 some scenes demand the use of flash - be it fill or full - while others do not require anything more than existing light. A photographer who refuses to use flash is not necessarily better the one who avails himself of whatever tools are necessary to produce the best photo possible. Joseph Codispoti
