It doesn't seem to be the original image of Che, rather a graphic that is close enough to suggest it, while drawing in unmistakeable aspects of the popular conception of Jesus' appearance. Jesus as revolutionary - very cool approach. One common theory is that this was actually the underlying reason for his execution - his activities were seen as seditious by the Roman authorities. And I know I shouldn't do this, but to quote Oscar Wilde, I can resist anything except temptation. DonjR, I wanted to ask you about that George Washington fella. Didn't he lead a band of guerillas against a lawfully constituted (but oppressive) regime, and wasn't he responsible for the deaths of many loyal British subjects? For the life of me I can't figure out why you'd put a picture of a revolutionary murderer like that on your money... Sigh. Please, don't anyone respond to this crap. I'm already sorry I wrote it. ;-) Paul Chefurka >-----Original Message----- >From: Brian Reid [mailto:reid@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us] >Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2000 12:25 PM >To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us >Subject: Re: [Leica] I am confused and need your help > > >Take a look at http://www.churchads.org.uk/last.html >It's part of an Easter 1999 advertising campaign by the Church >of England. >You will note that they did not consider the use of this icon to be a >death-related moral issue. >
