Art,
There is a Leica Repair book (i can not remember the exact title) available
at Barnes & Noble and Borders that is pretty comprehensive about repairing
Leica cameras where the author recommends lighter fluid (yes as in
cigarette) for lens cleaning. I did not try to clean a lens with it but I
did put some on a old cotten t-shirt and cleaned the body and it brought it
up so that my old black M2 looks brand new.
