It seemed to be a very good choise to buy it second hand. For a very good price! I received it including the aluminium case. This is about the same weight as the lens!! During my last trip I went up in the mountains in Nepal bringing all my gear with me, but this nice one is going to be too heavy! According to the statistics, the old non-modul 280 lens is 800 grams lighter. But what has changed with the new system? Some additional lenses, I know. But has the quality also improved, if it has been possible at all?! Or are these extra lensens only necessary for making it a modular system? Does anybody in this group know what realy has changed between the pre and present modul system and what the quality difference is? Another practical question. Which functions of the R8 are accessible if I combine the 280/2.8 non Rom with my Rom 2x extender. The display does not show anything at all anymore exept the shutter speed, which I don't trust anymore. Can rom extender be combined with non rom lenses? After all my traveling the last years I decided to put some of my pictures on the web. It is not finished yet, but I will let you know. Richard S.
