Neutol Plus is $4.95 per liter of concentrate at B&H - dilute 1:9 and it will do 100+ RC prints per liter of diluted solution, which keeps about two weeks... so about $0.50 a liter, maybe $0.80 with shipping factored in... divided by, say, 200 RC prints. Jeez, considering that paper is $0.50 a sheet, you'd have to be nuts to want it to be more economical than $0.004 per print - and it would assume that it's worth your time to screw around with powders. If there's something cheaper than that, let me know too! I'm already on the RUG and the HUG I can just see the stuff flying if I get on the DUG assuming there is one. I picked up some "Neutol plus" in lieu of Dektol this week a liquid paper developer from Agfa. It has Isoascorbic acid sodium salt in it (sounds like Vitamin C to me) so I am thinking of it as Xtol for my prints. Far off? No mention of any Phenidone like substance though. There is a list on the back for apparently poison related issues Of active ingredients. But of course not in what amounts. So what I want to know is (as I know the Photographers Formulary has Ascorbic acid like stuff on their list) does anyone have a substitute equivalent formula for this Neutol plus?. An Ascorbic acid based paper developer? I hate buying these liquids and like to mix up my own stuff so I can put my own two cents in and save a buck. Mark Rabiner Has anybody used this stuff it's got a nice Orange and white bottle! 1:9 or 1:4? Now if they just came out with Rodinol for prints we'd really be in business. </XMP> - ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: <daemon@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Received: from rly-zc02.mx.aol.com (rly-zc02.mail.aol.com [172.31.33.2]) by air-zc02.mail.aol.com (v67.7) with ESMTP; Wed, 05 Jan 2000 15:55:50 1900 Received: from mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [192.147.236.1]) by rly-zc02.mx.aol.com (v67.7) with ESMTP; Wed, 05 Jan 2000 15:55:32 -0500 Received: (from daemon@localhost) by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (8.9.1/8.9.1) id MAA17472; Wed, 5 Jan 2000 12:45:24 -0800 (PST) Received: from darius.concentric.net (darius.concentric.net [207.155.198.79]) by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (8.9.1/8.9.1) with ESMTP id MAA17462; Wed, 5 Jan 2000 12:45:22 -0800 (PST) Received: from newman.concentric.net (newman.concentric.net [207.155.198.71]) by darius.concentric.net (8.9.1a/(98/12/15 5.12)) id PAA15070; Wed, 5 Jan 2000 15:45:21 -0500 (EST) [1-800-745-2747 The Concentric Network] Received: from concentric.net (ts010d34.por-or.concentric.net [206.173.161.238]) by newman.concentric.net (8.9.1a) id PAA22296; Wed, 5 Jan 2000 15:45:19 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <3873AD5E.EEB4090@concentric.net> Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2000 12:45:18 -0800 From: Mark Rabiner <mrabiner@concentric.net> X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.7 (Macintosh; I; PPC) X-Accept-Language: en-US MIME-Version: 1.0 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Neutol plus References: <0.43f1bdf.25a4ab9b@aol.com> <20000105094954.M29295@oven.com> <38739E3D.B8BADE47@concentric.net> <05a701bf57b8$75e67620$627d0518@sttln1.wa.home.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Precedence: bulk Reply-To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us >>
