With Tri-X, especially pushed, the minute amount of added fog seems makes the negs a touch easier to print by lowering the contrast slightly (using T-max developer prints to 2-1/2. I've used these up to 2 and 1/2 years out of date with no problem. The answer is "NO"!<<< Nonsense. It's not MILK. It'll probably be good for ten years still. Although I agree with Gerry that you shouldn't use it for important work without testing first. Wind off one roll's worth, shoot it quickly standing by the front door, develop it, and see what you get. If you can discern the slightest difference between what you get and fresh film, I'll be mighty surprised. At the most, you might get a slightly higher level of fb+f (film-base-plus-fog), but that won't affect how well the negs will print. - --Mike J. / _PHOTO Techniques_ magazine </XMP> - ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: <daemon@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Received: from rly-yc05.mx.aol.com (rly-yc05.mail.aol.com [172.18.149.37]) by air-yc05.mail.aol.com (v67.7) with ESMTP; Thu, 30 Dec 1999 13:42:38 -0500 Received: from mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [192.147.236.1]) by rly-yc05.mx.aol.com (v67.7) with ESMTP; Thu, 30 Dec 1999 13:42:31 -0500 Received: (from daemon@localhost) by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (8.9.1/8.9.1) id KAA17614; Thu, 30 Dec 1999 10:32:33 -0800 (PST) Received: from mailhost.chi.ameritech.net (mpdr0.chicago.il.ameritech.net [206.141.239.142]) by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (8.9.1/8.9.1) with ESMTP id KAA17604; Thu, 30 Dec 1999 10:32:31 -0800 (PST) Received: from ameritech.net ([199.179.174.239]) by mailhost.chi.ameritech.net (InterMail v4.01.01.07 201-229-111-110) with ESMTP id <19991230183201.CHZN3863.mailhost.chi.ameritech.net@ameritech.net> for <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us>; Thu, 30 Dec 1999 12:32:01 -0600 Message-ID: <386B50BB.C08431AA@ameritech.net> Date: Thu, 30 Dec 1999 12:32:02 +0000 From: Mike Johnston <michaeljohnston@ameritech.net> Organization: n/a X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.51 (Macintosh; I; PPC) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: [Leica] "Old" Tri-X References: <199912300801.AAA14265@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; x-mac-type="54455854"; x-mac-creator="4D4F5353" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Precedence: bulk Reply-To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us >>
