I am going to be there next > week > and I will take my M6. ... advice... hello jorge, i think, it depends on what you like to photograph: landscapes or people? and in what part of india: snowy & cold himalajas, bright desserts, hottest green south? well - some time have passed since i have been in india (in winter 1982/83...), but when i remember back: in central india (delhi etc) it must be very dry & hot at this time; if i would go to india again (i would love that!), i would do lots of photographs of interesting people, crowded markets, railway stations, on a railway-trip... so - i think that a leica is a nice camera for india just because of its more decent look than the common touristy AF-SLR-stuff hanging over the belly with long teles ... maybe you will be less noticed as a photographer by everyone - what for sure is (was?) a benefit in india... for your picture-results i think for market scenes etc. a noctilux must be amazing... (never used one) but be prepared of horrible high contrasts: bright sun, deepest shadows, dark holes, amazing colours... but you should'nt forget a wideangle (24 or 35) as well... go early in the morning or late afternoon or night... take care (like in any other crowded places on earth) about your equipment - - some people are still very poor in india - selling a stolen leica with a noct. would save - i just guess - the living-costs of a very big family for a few years...
