Subject: [Leica] Performance of old 3,5/35-70 ?

My local dealer has a reasonably priced 3,5/35-70 on commission: first version
with E60, "Made in Japan" (by Minolta), DM 1,000, condition A. I am interested
to get it, but how well it performs in comparison to the new 4/35-70? I do not
expect miracles. On Erwin Put's site, there is no reference to it. Irrespective
of the price, the new 4/35-70 is no alternative for me, because it cannot be
used on a SL. Is the later version of the 3,5/35-70 with the non-rotating E67
filter mount, "Made in Germany", better in optical performance? I am not sure
whether the optical formal had been improved, or not. Otherwise I would prefer
the more compact, first version.
