The fact that the lens is driven to the focus point unless you use the AF lock is a bit of a pain as it slows down the operation, but it's not insurmountable and makes no difference to the manual focus setting. >2. Of course, I rarely bothered... when I wanted shallow DoF, I just spun the aperture open, and when I wanted a lot I just closed it down. Unless you're doing critical work, that's all you need. Godfrey
