Imagine a whole busload of P&S-armed tourists yelling at you for delaying everyone (as opposed to just your family yelling at you for delaying them). England is an easy country to get around in, people speak more or less the same language as you, and driving on the left is no big deal, you get used to it in no time, especially since your rented car will have the steering wheel in the correct side (I have driven over to England several times in my Belgian car, and the only problem I have encountered is trying to pass someone on a two-lane country road when I cannot see if the road ahead is clear or not--I had to rely on my wife to tell me). I would recommend deciding in advance what you want to see, making a few hotel reservations in key places and just adjust them as you go along. We took a driving vacation in Italy two years ago where we always had just the hotel reservation for the next city; once there, we would decide on how long we wanted to stay and call ahead to a hotel in our next destination city to reserve there etc. Nathan KPETERS wrote: > Dear Leica friends, I am hoping to go to England this spring for a > photo trip and have a couple questions about 'European' vacations for > a starter!
