Subject: [Leica] Re: Scanners and B&W - OT?

I use a Polaroid Sprintscan 35ES for my scanning. I prefer it over the
Nikon due to the diffusion light source, which seems to give me
particularly good B&W results. The ES is a 10bit/channel unit, the Plus
is a 12bit/channel model. You can see scads of pictures scanned with this
unit on my website. The latest ones are the "Morro Bay" and "Central
Valley, California" links. (The very latest pic is not quite done yet,
but I posted a quickie JPEG of it to
 <http://www.bayarea.net/~ramarren/photostuff/ptlobos/tree-15a.JPG>.)

I've not used the Minolta scanner although I'm tempted by it due to its
ability to scan up to 6x9 format.

best,
Godfrey
