Subject: [Leica] "New" (?) IIIf

Thanks to Stephen Gandy, I took delivery on a very pretty Leica IIIf
"Barnack camera" today. As always I'm surprised anew by how small the
screwmounts are--they seem smaller than, say, point'n'shoots of similar
volume because of their elongated shape, miniaturized controls, and wee
little viewfinder windows. The one Stephen sent is exceptionally clean,
almost without signs of age.

The lens doesn't arrive until Friday, but I look forward to augmenting
my camera experience with some time spent shooting this antique. It
looks so lovely that I may have to violate my longtime rule ("one camera
at a time") when the time comes for it to move over to make room for
something else.

Thanks to the many Luggers who took the time to share their experience
of LTM with me, on and off-list.
