As my signature generator once in a while says, "All generalities are false."

And this one is too. As a lens that contributes to the esthetic value of a 
picture, improves it. Slight though it may be, there are some situations 
where highly corrected lenses make differences. Not average everyday use, 
for sure, but when the chips are down (or in Ted's case, flying) a great 
lens will make a difference.
