Subject: [Leica] Max Berek on camera

Speaking of Max Berek. Saw a Leica item at a photoshow here in NYC
today.
It was a black cutaway model, in a wood box (a LTM model) with black
lens.
The camera worked, but was missing the body covering and the top of the
rangefinder housing metal.
Quite attractive. But more interesting was a decal/plaque in the box
with the
words "Max Berek" and some other (german) words, which I did not
understand.
The dealer did'nt know much about it except that it was current, that
each one was different, and that this one was $700.00 USD. If I recall,
the
finish was more a very fine black crackle than a plack paint. Does
anyone know anything about these cameras?
