I asked Stefan Daniel, Leica AG Product Manager, about this at PMA in Feb. He confirmed that the patent had expired in the late 80's. At the time, the Konica was still a rumor. The Leica people regarded rumors of the Konica with great interest, not the typical disdain of years past. It will be interesting to hear the reaction from Herr Cohn, Kiesel and Daniel of Leica AG next week in Chicago now that the Hexar RF is reality. Bill Rosauer
