Junk is junk at all price levels, so I hope Leica is selective about whatever crowd-pleasers they may attempt. For starters, I wish Leica had a mom-pleasing zoom point-and-shoot. Last camera which really did was Olympus's Infinity Twin. Very nice design, with big rubbery buttons and even raised bumps on the front which steered fingers away from the lens and flash. It took nice pictures too--far better than some of these flare-prone zoom models these days. It was the closest thing I've seen to a Swatch camera, and I wish there were more of the things today. Heh heh, if Leica does one, ask them to make 'em in metallic purple, olive drab and stainless steel finishes. Change the color offerings once, maybe twice a year. These cameras *will* stand out in a crowded showcase, unlike today's sleep-inducers. If they're really lucky, not only will the things sell like hotcakes, but the collectors will move in and pay premium prices for odd variations: The mind boggles at the possibilities! Life in the '90s has taken on a Huxlian twist: So many diversions; what sane human can focus and master just a few anymore? You assert that Leica must face this reality, and what can I do but shrug and agree, as I type these words on a DVD'd, multimedia'd, stereo speaker'd computer? If anything separates me from my co-workers, I think it's that my mommy and daddy said "no" to me a lot more when it came to buying stuff, so I learned to scrounge and create my own. Never thought I'd thank 'em for it ;-) Jeff
