Between the R8 and the R7, get an R8, better camera.  The suggestion for
a mechanical back-up is good too, though.  I recently got an SL which I
really like.  I would look for one in as near mint condition as you can
find.  E-mail me privately if you are interested and I will tell you
specifically what to look for.

Or buy another lens. ; )
