Horst's point is mine: if you want to pay the freight, then you can gripe.
Canadians do not pay or participate or plan or co-operate, as a nation.
But the populace seem to enjoy griping whenever anything in the US goes
a-gley. Bitching is cheap fun when you have nothing invested but, then, it
makes the bitcher look like a carping whinger.

I could make buckets of comments on how you folks run your country but it's
just not my place to do so. Good international relations starts and ends
with the citizens and subjects of each sovereignity Minding Their Own
Business and keeping their criticisms to themselves or, at the least, only
sharing those with their nearest and dearest in private. I do have decided
and quite negative thoughts on the Canadian manner of doing business, but
there is not a forum on the 'Net, or any other public forum, which I would
deem appropriate for sharing such thoughts.

Other nationalities don't seem to share this lust for condemning the US.
Asians, Europeans, Africans, none of them lust after knocking the Great
Republic -- but, boy!, Canadians seem to get up in the morning and read
their newspapers just to find out what is going wrong South of the Border,
so they can fire up their Macs (I suspect all Canadians are so anti-success
that they use Macs) and, once they are warmed up (which, given your
climate, probably takes six to eight hours), posting every conceivable
derogatory comment about the US which nasty and convoluted minds can
contrive. Having done so, you all probably congregate in your village
tavern in the evenings to share the most wicked of these bon mots.

It gets old. It is rude. It is nasty. It is unseemly. But, to this US
citizen, it just wears and gets old. I know a lot of really fine Canadians
but there is that number among you who just cannot hold yourself when the
opportunity arises to jab at the Americans.

Let International Amity exist. You guys resist your urges to speak ill of
the US, and I will continue to hold my peace as I have done for my adult
life.
