I am one of the most senior members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (35 years down and ready to send my renewal in for the next go-round). Over on the RASC List, there are slew of puling Canadians bitching because the US hasn't adopted the metric system. What business is it of theirs whether we do so or nay? None. Zilcho. I have a strong suspicion the Canadians only adopted the metric system in an effort to screw over the US and are now embarrassed that it back-fired, as the Dominion's economy is so intertwined with ours that this has hurt Canadian business, not that of the US. Most Americans, of course, never think of Canada at all, and I suppose that galls Her Majesty's Subjects more than anything else the US could ever do.
