At that time I had an email correspondence with Michael Pritchard, the Photographic Specialist at Christie's who was handling that sale, and I even posted extracts from that email exchange to the LUG list. However what I'm questioning, is the claim on Mr Gandy's web site (at http://www.jetlink.net/~cameras/mguide.htm that (and I quote): "September 1999 The M7 has been announced introduction at Photokina 2000 in September. No word on features." Note that this claims that the M7 *has been announced*. It fails to say who made the alleged announcement or where it appeared. If someone is going to claim that a product "has been announced" and defend that claim in the strongest possible terms (to put it mildly), then it is hardly unreasonable - in the face of a startling absence of supporting evidence - to ask for a source or an attribution.
