Incidentally, that same page (http://www.jetlink.net/~cameras/mguide.htm) 
contains the claim that "The M bayonet patent expired in November of 
1998".

Ummmm...surely it was a *lot* earlier than that? A patent from the early 
fifties can't possibly last until 1998.
