There's no such thing as "can not be obtained anymore". As long as Leica owns the design rights all they have to do is have the parts manufactured elsewhere or *shudder* make the parts themselves. Furthermore it would be silly for Leica to use up the last of an un-obtainable part making new R6.2's because then they wouldn't be able to repair any that needed fixing. If what you say is in fact Leica's official position ("that's their story and they're sticking to it") then what they're really saying is they *won't* manufacture more R6.2's, not that they *can't*. That would leave them with only the 5000 R8's they can't sell. Maybe they'll do what Nikon, Olympus, Ricoh, Vivitar and Phoenix/Samyang have done: have Cosina make them a version of their ubiquitous and generic manual SLR. Considering the above versions sell for around $200, Leica would probably sell theirs for $1000.
