HI, Bud
Well, didn't mean to post to the whole list!!!
anyway, most of my persona on this group is an act. (no surprise there)
I have very little "Texan" in real life!....although I have relatives
with boots, hoods, whatever....

I live VERY simply, Leicas and radios (Collins) are my main 'diversions'.
I can't remember when I've had a car with less than 100K miles on it, and
three out of four of my last cars were free (literally)....of course, I
spend some money keeping them going....

I would LOVE to live in a European style city sans car....it just doesn't
exist for me!!...it IS possible in Denton, but family wouldn't agree (especially
distant family, who EXPECTS to see me twice a year or so, dammit!)

I'm a mile from work, kid's school is a mile or less, shopping within
1/4 mile, department store 2 miles, etc....and nice parks, library, etc.
within 2 miles in ANY direction....

I can't envision living without a car, but I damn sure could see us having
only one, and putting less than 3K a year on it.....wife says she wants to
ride every day, but time will tell. I was a SERIOUS rider (not a racer)
twenty years ago (several K a year) but just got back into it coupla years
ago....35 pounds heavier, many packs o' smokes, you know the story....
still can hold my own for 5-10 miles, tho....and enjoying it a lot...

We'll see....

Walt
