Subject: Re: [Leica] Germany made or Canada made ?

It should be quite obvious that Canadian assembly was much cheaper than
German, given that we worked in unheated igloos and ate frozen fish.
Naturally, quality control was a problem- what do you expect when people try
to assemble cameras while wearing mitts? And that haze that sometimes shows
up on lenses- well, seal oil lamps can be pretty damn smoky! By the way, did
you know that Bob and Doug Mackenzie did quality control at Midland before
they hit it big on TV? Eh?

Is it true that assembling in Canada was cheaper than in Germany ? Is
this reason the one and only reason to do this ?
