One reference which occurs to me is the book on his "Early Work" which discusses that a few of the photographs from his first trip to Mexico were posed (not staged), particularly the man with his arms crossed over his chest next to the high-heeled shoes set to look like a heart. There are others and Cartier-Bresson does not deny having posed pictures, particularly in his portrait series. Unfortunately, I have no reference works with me, so I can't site chapter and verse.
