The math ... 0.5 g is not right ... it is way too much. As far as adding it goes, if you use amidol you'll see how easy it is to estimate small amounts with it. It's a very fine crystalline powder, and if you have a tapered scoopula you can measure out small amounts of it with fairly good accuracy after a while. The only drawback is the cost of amidol -- not cheap.
