Would some lens historian enlighten us here? Yes, that is exactly why the head comes off. It can be fitted to a Bellows rig for close-up work. There is no finer method of making extreme close-ups than with a Visoflex II or IIa or III on an M6 with a Bellows II. Wonderful!
