Nope the first earth creature to obtain orbit was a dog the old USSR
sent 
up named Lyca (SP?)...it never returned...stayed till it died.  When I 
heard this I thought it funny that the first earth creature's name to be
in orbit was pronuced the same as the cameras we use....

I'm not sure about your spelling, but I do know that the Russian name
translated as Little Lemon.
