I don't know if this will help people feel better about the M-grip, but the
Leica Canada rep from Kindermann told me it was actually made from a carbon
fiber composite.  It may look like plain ol'plastic, but it's Stronger Than
Steel...  So maybe we're getting our money's worth after all :-/

This is true. Still, I'd prefer metal to the wonder-plastic anyway. Only GMP 
is making metal grips for these cameras from what I know...

That is why I bought GMP's remaining stock of metal R grips when I heard they 
were switching to carbon fiber as well. It will only be a short time before 
no metal grips are available for our wonderful machines made of antique 
materials. ;-)
