Friends,

Over the past month, I have been using my 35 summicron ASPH on my 0.72 M6
Wetzlar to take pictures of activities in the hospital that I work in. I
am very much inspired by Ted Grant's book, "This is Our Work - The Legacy
of Sir William Osler". Ted's book contains a very fine selection of shots
taken in various hospital environments and is a real keeper. I am indeed
priviledged to have a signed copy from him. I am also inspired by the
words contained within the hard covers.

Previously, I was of the opinion that the 35 summicron ASPH did not possess
the "bokeh" that I like in the background blur compared to my 6-element
35mm summicron-M. That may be true for my more artistic shots. After this
current self-imposed assignment, I am of the opinion that I am beginning to
appreciate the sharpness and contrast inherent in the latest 35 summicron
ASPH. Using HP5+, I was shooting my OR images almost wide open and I find
that the details recordable with the ASPH to be a definite asset in the
final reproduction. I just needed the details and the ASPH delivers them
very well.

With the ASPH on my M6, I hardly notice any intrusion into the viewfinder.
With my older summicron and its round 12585 hood, I could still see the arc
of the hood at the lower right corner.

Would I give up my older 35 summicron for the sharper, more contrasty,
better performer? Nah...... the ol' gal is still a stunning performer and
is still my preferred glass for artistry in photography.
