I understand that there are many on this list who think the ergonomics are spectacular, etc. But there are others who don't like the design. As I have commented before, on "playing" with an R8 at a dealer I was struck by what I considered the cheap, plasticy feel of the camera, particularly for a Leica. The OM-3 feels, if nothing else, solid and traditional. Perhaps that, coupled with the odd look and feel of the R8 - and the enormous price differential - is what caused the test outcome.
