The details are: The body looks as if it might be a IIIb [see this web page] http://www.cameraguild.co.jp/screwdriver/3bbody00.html but it is not inscribed with a model number. The top of the body shows, "Leica D.R.P., Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany, No 512229" The lens is an Amototal Anastigmat 2 inch F2 ELC #300028 Taylor Taylor & Hobson Ltd, England. The body's black leatherette is in good to excellent condition, worn but not chipped or cracked. The bottom plate looks to be made of brass or bronze and has lost quite a lot of its chrome or silver plating. The top plate had also lost some of its plating exposing the base metal. The view finder is as shown at the top right of the above web page but there was no split image range finder. The view through the left hand viewer looked rather milky with quite a blueish tinge The lens glass looked to be in very good condition front and back with barely any blemishes and screwed in and out of the body very smoothly and snugly. The lens barrel looked well used with only very minor dings and dents. Can any Leica historians comment on this old Leica body and the lens? Might it be worthwhile to have it fully restored? Is there any collectible value? Thanks John Hudson Vancouver, B.C.
