Maybe someone who has used both systems can comment. I know the specifications. I'm more interested in things like handling, "user interface", loudness, etc. To me, the FM2N is the most intuitive camera I've ever used. Some of my concerns: Expense. With the FM2N, a second body and lenses are relatively cheap. Second body would be mainly for carrying a second type of film, and reducing the amount of lens-swapping when I'm pressed for time. Repair. FM2N will probably be cheaper and/or easier to replace or repair, due to its popularity. <<< Andrew, In my experience with the FM-series cameras with the R-series cameras (R4sP), the FM's handling is not nearly as pleasant as the R, particularly since I use my left eye at the viewfinder. My right hand on the FM was very cramped and the view through the finder was not nearly as good as with the R. The R feels solid, capable, refined; the FM suffers in comparison. It's hard to say whether the FM2N will be easier to repair many years from now. Leica has a very long history of providing parts and service for old cameras; ask anyone who has tried to replace an FTn or F2 resistor ring what he/she thinks of N****'s support for old equipment. Then there are the lenses... Doug Herr Sacramento http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/telyt
