These IS lenses, as with the EOS bodies themselves, are dependent on batteries to to do their thing. Fast lenses, including Canon's very good ones, are not. I use Canon EOS equipment for a number of professional tasks I am faced with, and like the system very much. But, there is still a good deal of reassurance in that I can get a top quality photograph with no batteries in one of my M's (can't stay away from these things), and no more sophisticated a computer than the feeble old model in my head. While I often agree with Roger on a number of topics... I find my Parker and Waterman pens superior to my Mont Blancs. My Seiko watches are better timekeepers, but I like my dad's old Wyler better. Paddy's pleases me more than most single malts. Yes, I know it's Irish. And my Honda Civic is a better car in almost every respect than either of my previous two Mercedes. Have a nice Sunday, Will von Dauster
