The battery in the M6 just runs the meter and that meter is fully
manual. You have to light up those 2 Led's yourself by turning the
fstops or shutter speed dials. Other cameras are auto in the sense that
in effect those 2 led's are already lit up for you.  
The battery also might run the shutter, hot a swiss clock like
mechanical mechanism. Not a radiolilke or computerlike circuit board.
And they have to leave room for the micro-ramp for the micro-squirrels
to run the micro-motor.
