It will survive anything from -70 C to +125 C, function in vacuum, incorporate carbon fibre, Gore-Tex, titanium and diamond powder in its structure, and be based on infra-red technology using twin, pulsed GaAs-laser strobes. The eye of the remote will be an ASPH/APO triplet design with two cemented elements. No UV filter will be necessary, due to the multicoating technology used. It will be offered during the first quarter of 2000, but production will be delayed for 18 monhts. In the mean time, surprisingly enough, someone will discover that the $19.95 Canon RC-1 infra-red remote works just fine and in addition offers mirror-lock and bulb functions. ;) M. - -- Martin Howard, Grad.
